One recent example of winning new high profile business is Intech Science Centre & Planetarium. For those living across the South, we have all see the iconic white pyramid building, planetarium and satellite dishes, based just outside Winchester near the A31 bypass.
Intech serves the wider community with educational themed play areas and learning, and hosts trips for many local schools across Hampshire and Surrey. What was important from a building maintenance perspective was to give the roof a well needed clean.
Town & Country Cleaning was contracted to provide the roof clean this summer, which involved two cleaning teams starting from 4am in the morning and using specialist equipment to clean the huge roof.
This equipment included three vehicles supplying water to three Reach & Wash systems extending to 85ft in length as well as a mobile scissor lift. Health and safety was paramount when considering the centre remained open to the public, as well as cleaning at such heights. The team also had to factor in the weather to ensure the extended poles were not unmanageable in strong winds.
Lee Turner, Managing Director of Town & Country Cleaning said, “for such an iconic building, it was important to give the building a facelift. It was great to work with Intech and support them as a local charity. We tried to provide an excellent service at nearly half the cost of some of our competitors”.
“We were able to start straight away and with some of our most experienced cleaners in the company, all of whom are PAL/IPAF certified. We ensured we managed the project to the standards required by a company with the SAFE Contractor (SSIP – Safety Schemes in Procurement) accreditation. We also did a full post-project review so that lessons learnt were recorded for the next time we clean this challenging building”.
