Town & Country Cleaning has been commissioned by Woking based builder to clean a recently developed residential block of flats in central Guildford, Surrey. The site is well known in Guildford as it is above the previous home of Argos, next door to the Royal Grammar School in Guildford high street.
Lee Turner, Managing Director of Town & Country Cleaning said, “Retail conversion to residential is an increasing trend we are seeing in the UK. Obviously, the traditional retail model is being challenged by online retailers and retailers developing a bricks-and-clicks strategy. As retail usage decreases in our town centres, it is very useful to redevelop this space into residential, especially flats above retail premises.”
“We need to see more of this happening in the UK, i.e. space above shops, which was historically part of the shop’s staff accommodation and now pretty much dormant, being redeveloped into more affordable flat accommodation in the centre of town which young people can more easily afford to buy or rent”.
The clean was a commercial deep clean of 16 flats and communal space, which included a full internal clean throughout, all internal windows and all fixtures and fittings, and a final sparkle clean. Demand for the flats is expected to be very high with Guildford having such a buoyant local property market.
Town & Country Cleaning has some 65 staff managing +300 customers across both commercial and domestic clients in Surrey, Hampshire and the south of England. Accreditations include BIFM (British Institute of Facilities Management), British Chamber of Commerce, ISO9001 and insurance to £10m.
